Winter

Are you more susceptible to winter illnesses and less able to tolerate cold temperatures? Are you a mountain and altitude enthusiast and want to stay in top shape even at 2,000 meters? What if one of the keys was hydration?

The colder we are, the less thirsty we are. In winter, the sensation of thirst can decrease by up to 40%... When temperatures are close to zero, we don't need water any less, quite the opposite.
When we breathe in cold air, our bodies must warm it to match our body temperature. This necessary process causes moisture to evaporate from our bodies.
And that's without taking into account the dry air in our homes and indoor heating systems which contribute to drying out our skin and respiratory tract, which can increase the risk of dehydration.

And in winter, it's not the time to get dehydrated!

Numerous studies prove it: good hydration boosts our vitality and therefore our ability to defend ourselves against viruses. Dehydration can weaken the immune system and increase the risk of catching winter illnesses like colds or the flu. It can also increase fatigue and decrease the ability to concentrate.
Maintaining a top immune system starts with good hydration!

Focus on winter illnesses

When winter arrives, it brings with it its share of winter worries: diarrhea, vomiting, fever. These three symptoms can increase the risk of dehydration and zinc loss. We then feel more tired, simply because an underhydrated body is less efficient at transporting oxygen and nutrients, essential to our vitality.

Focus on altitude and mountains

Fortunately, winter also has its upsides! For those who love the mountains, it's good to know that from 1,500 meters above sea level, oxygen becomes scarcer and the air drier, which requires a significant adaptation from the body. Respiratory rate increases and leads to significant water loss.
And, fun fact, have you ever noticed that we urinate more often in the mountains? This isn't just a figment of our imagination, but a reality known as altitude diuresis. This process accelerates the loss of water and electrolytes essential for health and vitality.

In winter, I hydrate!

Winter hydration supports the immune system, prevents dryness for healthy skin, and helps reduce fatigue.

Hydratis is here for all of this!

Tips & best practices

In the mountains

The higher the altitude, the greater the need for hydration! Between 1500 and 2000m, we recommend 2.5 to 3 liters of water, at over 2500m, we will go up to 3 to 4 liters. Finally, at over 4000m, we will not hesitate to go up to 4-5 liters of water, especially for the most sporty and active. Practical and tasty, Hydratis tablets accelerate hydration by improving water absorption. They promote recovery and support metabolism.

During a diarrheal episode

An episode of diarrhea or vomiting leads to a significant loss of mineral salts essential for the proper functioning of our body. To compensate for this loss, Hydratis optimizes hydration by improving water absorption*.
It is also advisable to avoid foods that irritate the intestines and stomach (spices, fries, coffee, alcohol, gluten), as well as foods rich in fiber.
Limit lactose-based foods
Prefer a diet based on rice and well-cooked carrots, compotes or ripe bananas.

*Please note: Hydratis is not intended to cure. Follow your healthcare professional's recommendations for appropriate care.
